Rory is the Artistic and Executive Director of Harlow Playhouse and is responsible for the theatre both strategically and Artistically, Rory’s key focus is on delivering the Artistic vision “The Cultural Heart of Harlow for all”. Rory works with the dedicated Harlow Playhouse team to provide excellent customer experience and strives to make Harlow Playhouse a centre of excellence.
Rory has been working as a full time member of the Harlow Playhouse team since 2010 and before becoming the Artistic and Executive Director, was Interim General Manager.
Prior to this Rory toured the U.K. as a Production Manager. Whilst being freelance he also worked as an Event Manager, Electrical Technician and Stage Manager. Rory is the Technical Director for Nationally Honoured inclusive theatre company Razed Roof and a Trustee for Youth Theatre Company Livewire.
Rory has been responsible for producing this production of Treasure Island. Other producing credits include Peter Pan, Aladdin and Jack and The Beanstalk at Harlow Playhouse alongside The Great Christmas Sleigh Ride (Harlow Playhouse) and (The Atkinson, Southport), The Great Christmas Cake Off (Harlow Playhouse). In the subsidised sector Rory has commissioned I Talk To The Clouds and They Cry with Me by Rhiannon Faith and is currently co-producing Rhiannon’s new piece Drowntown.
Rory is a keen supporter of LGBT equality and this year produced Harlow’s first ever Digital Pride.
Rory has provided management consultancy for various companies including KD Theatre Productions, AC Special Projects, Passmores Community Learning Trust and numerous pantomime production companies. Rory is a professional member of UK Theatre and has been placed on the ESSEX POWER 100 list recognising the most powerful and influential people in Essex.
